How Desperate Are Retailers? They’re Already Wishing Shoppers a Merry Christmas

It’s the retail equivalent of jumping the shark: Stores such as Sears, Kmart, and Toys “R” Us are already trying to merry up their sales with Christmas displays, online Christmas specials, and “Christmas in July” sales.

The trend has been reported on in by Reuters, the Washington Post, and the WSJ, among others. Can’t Santa get a break?

By November, I guess these stores will still be promoting Christmas sales—but for Christmas of 2010, of course. Whatever. There should be plenty of deals, if you’re in the market.
