Shout Out: ‘Your Guide to Cutting the Cord to Cable TV’

The average digital cable TV bill was about $75 last year. By dropping cable, you’d eliminate $900 a year in bills.

A great post from PBS’s Mark Glaser explains how to cut the cord while still getting your share of entertainment via all sorts of gadgets and services like Netflix and Hulu.

This is great information and I appreciate how clearly Mark Glasser explains things. We cut our ties to cable 3 years ago and have figured out some IT solutions on our own. Hulu in particular is great, and we have an old-ish projector hooked up to a laptop loaded with our favorite media tools including a dvd player for rented movies. We have more family time, more money and more shared fun than I ever would guess. Mindless TV is evil!

This savings, combined with a lot of other cutbacks, is giving us the chance for an epic journey through Europe. I am blogging the whole process if you want to pop in: http://ourrecessionadventure.blogspot.com/2009/12/my-little-family-is-heading-to-europe.html
