Toys R Us 88-Hour Shopping Marathon Begins Tuesday Morning

Yikes! In an unprecedented move, Toys R Us stores across the country will open at 6 a.m. on Tuesday, December 21, and won’t close until 10 p.m. on Christmas Eve.

I find this both disturbing and impressive. Here’s the announcement from Toys R Us, which lists special “midnight madness” and other deals scheduled for this week, in addition to special hours.

One of the obvious advantage of online shopping versus the brick-and-mortar experience is that the former can be done 24 hours a day. For this week at least, however, real world shoppers can also buy stuff at 3 a.m. if they’re feeling so inclined. So that negates one of the online shopping world’s advantages over the real world. While nobody will care if you’re shopping in your pajamas in front of the computer, though, you’ll probably draw some odd looks if you hit the Toys R Us in a robe and slippers. Then again, if it’s 3 a.m., maybe no one will care—or even notice.

For Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, the deals at Toys R Us include:

• FREE $50 Toys“R”Us Gift Card with the purchase of Nintendo® Wii™ Game System and Wii Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (in-store only)
• FREE Hot Wheels® 10-Car Pack with the purchase of Hot Wheels Criss Cross Crash Track Set – $9.99 Value
• BUY ONE, GET TWO FREE TRANSFORMERS 2 Fast Action Battlers
• BUY ONE, GET ONE 50% OFF ALL Video Game Accessories Priced up to $19.99 (in-store only)
