During a Southwest Airlines sale, flights start at just $29 one way on routes such as Louisville to Birmingham; $39 (Baltimore-Norfolk, Boston-Philadelphia, Midland-Albuquerque); $49 (San Diego-Phoenix, Pittsburgh-Baltimore); $59 (Reno-Boise, Phoenix-Los Angeles); and $74 (Detroit-Chicago, Sacramento-Las Vegas, Newark-Baltimore). Tickets must be purchased by Thursday, June 9, and travel is valid from August 23 to November 8. The lowest priced seats are available all days of the week except Fridays and Sundays.

Most middle-school kids have better things to think about than whether or not they’re members of the 1%. But one Los Angeles charter school upped the ante on the usual social anxieties of its annual dance when it installed a “V.I.P. lounge” — with a separate cover charge.
