Discounted or “pay what you can” yoga classes became more common in 2009, apparently in response to a growing need for exercise and stress relief on the cheap. This year, the yoga and pilates industry is projected to hit $6.5 billion, with expected average annual sales growth at 9.5%. The number of studios is growing at an estimated 7.5% rate annually.

This year, we’re expected to spend more than $50 billion on our pets, which would be a record. According to the American Pet Products Association, pet spending has increased every year since 2001, and only once by less than 5%. Oh, and we’re planning on spending $300 million just to dress them up for Halloween this month.
